Our client’s brief was to design a 4 bedroom traditional farmhouse styled rural home with a modern twist. Two linear blocks of varying aesthetic appearances & material finishes sit parallel to each other that are connected by a contemporary glazed link. The use of traditional forms and materials with modern detailing to the main house and the use of zinc to the mono pitched roof to the garage help elevate the aesthetical quality of the main dwelling. This allows a subservient garage design that achieves a sensitive yet contemporary approach to the overall design
The dwelling accommodates open plan kitchen, dining and living area, playroom, lounge, utility, four bedrooms & a double garage.
An increase of approximately 25% of extra insulation above regulation standards, a heat pump, a combined mechanical ventilation & heat recovery system and high level of air tightness almost to passive house standards combine to ensure an ultra low heating demand for this house. This house is designed to an A2 rated standard.
