This project was conceived as a contemporary variation on the popular double gable semi 2 storey rural dwelling. The design is purposely paired back and a simpler rural finish is achieved through the use of a traditional plaster finish, no overhangs to the roofs, use of dry verges & a traditional slate.
This 4 bedroomed design was devised to maximise natural light and the overall effect is airy, open & bright living accommodation.
Overall design and layout was sensibly dictated in the main by aspect, so the main kitchen/dining space/living space with its corner glazing faces full south. The east-facing family room to t the front elevation is positioned to look out into the front garden.
Photovoltaic PV Panels, extra insulation, an air to water heat pump, a combined mechanical ventilation & heat recovery system & a high level of air tightness combine to ensure a low heating demand for this house. This house is designed to an A3 rated standard.
