From the outset our clients were keen to pursue a bespoke contemporary home & we worked close together with our clients to develop a modern design that was of its place. We took inspiration from the traditional forms & layout of the ruins of our clients grandparents house that existed on this site. A mixture of traditional building forms & materials together with modern detailing creates a contemporary appearance for the dwelling.
The accommodation is arranged into three blocks in order to maximise passive solar gain, natural light & avails of amazing views from the garden. The Sunroom in terms of material choice & design elevates the connection & enjoyment with the garden that also enjoys spectacular views of the Blackstairs Mountain.
Extra insulation, heat pump, mechanical ventilation & heat recovery system and high level of air tightness combine to ensure an ultra low heating demand for this house. This house is designed to the NZEB A2 energy rated standard
